There’s a big list of fun ways to get your Red, White & Blue on this weekend, but because we are a little Waterbury-biased, we feel there’s really only one Independence Day Weekend event you need to attend: the Waterbury 4th of July Celebration!!
The festivities will take place Saturday, July 2nd in downtown Waterbury. Kicking things off will be the Green Mountain Mile at 10:45am going from the Ice Center to Stowe Street. Then at 11am the parade will start at the State Complex and march to Dascomb “Dac” Rowe Fields at the north end of Main Street. At noon festivities will start and continue throughout the day at the State Office Complex with fireworks at dusk.
This year’s theme is ‘Memories’ and it should make for a fun and creative parade! Waterbury has a great history and it will be really neat to see how our community interprets this into float form! The Stowe Street Arts Fest has invited our original founders to be a part of our parade float, remembering that this is our 10 year anniversary and it’s all because of their vision. There will also be some fun “stick-your-face-in-it” cutouts for all to enjoy so don’t forget to bring your camera!
So come out on Saturday for a fun in the sun with the community of Waterbury! And of course, don’t forget another fun community event that’s coming up: the Stowe Street Arts Fest, July 15 & 16th! See you soon!
