Ministry of Culture

About the Artist

Dedicated to the slow design movement, the Ministry of Culture specializes in thoughtfully designed hats, waxed canvas bags, and sustainably made clothing. Taking a holistic approach to design, I integrate low-waste practices, USA-made materials, and emphasize reuse models to make high-quality functional pieces geared to last with a minimal footprint. With this focus on sustainability throughout each step of the process, from conception to pattern creation and finally to the finished product, I do my best to keep my environmental impact low. Fabric selection is an important part of the process, and I prioritize USA-made fabrics made from hemp, organic cotton, and recycled materials to create unisex outdoor clothing, 5-panel, and 6-panel baseball caps, waxed canvas bags, and other accessories. Additionally, I source vintage fabrics, repurpose old clothing, and create my own screen print textiles that are then cut and sewn into my final pieces. My unique approach to design promotes socially responsible fashion through each piece's quality and functionality. I find it important to think of design as circular and promote the repair and reuse of each piece as much as possible.
